FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
HOW LONG IS EACH COURSE?
All in-house classes are scheduled on a 16-week semester (with some courses being only 6-8 weeks) with an extra week for finals. Although our classes are offered online, each class is instructor-led. We use the most current learning management system (LMS) to deliver our online courses. Seminars are either 1 or 2 days, and last for about 6 hours.
DO YOU OFFER CLASSES TO SENIOR CITIZENS?
I'm glad you asked! We have many enrolled senior citizens, who are first-time college students. They've always wanted to get a college degree, but due to life circumstances were unable to fulfill that dream. Now it's possible. We offer FREE TUITION for Associate Degrees (60 credits)!
DOES MCBC RECOGNIZE PAST CREDITS?
MCBC recognizes life and ministry experience and transfer credits from other colleges and majors. Most students enter the college qualifying for a Bachelor’s Degree or higher.
HOW IS PLACEMENT IN PROGRAMS DETERMINED?
Students must have a high school diploma or GED to enter the associates program. A bachelor degree (in any major) is required for placement in the masters program. To enter the doctorate program, students must have a masters degree (in any major). Also, combined program degrees are available to qualifying students for Bachelor/Master, and Master/Doctoral candidates (contact us for more information).
HOW DOES REGISTERING FOR A CLASS WORK?
MCBC is on a semester system: Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer schedule. Semester courses are usually 16 weeks, with some courses only 6-8 weeks long (dependent upon the class). Because every program is paid for in advance, if you are a program degree student (you can fill out the "Admissions form", you are automatically assigned your upcoming courses. This means that you do not need to register for classes each semester! However, students are allowed to opt out of classes, if there is a conflict with their schedule.
We also offer class-by-class registration for those who may not be interested in a degree, but still desire to take our in-depth and enriching courses. In this case, they would register and pay each semester by using our "Registration form".
IS THERE A FINAL EXAM FOR GRADUATE STUDENTS?
The Graduate students (Doctorate and Master Levels) take a graduate exam called the ‘Test Out’. Master thesis or Doctoral dissertations are available, too.
DOES MCBC LICENSE ITS GRADUATES?
No. Licensing, Certification, and Ordination is done by students' Church affiliations.
WHAT PROGRAMS DO MCBC OFFER?
Our most popular programs are in Biblical Studies and Theology. A student is expected to choose an emphasis and their degree is labeled accordingly. We offer a researched-based only accelerated program for our masters and doctorate degrees (students can earn their degree within (8) six months to a year). Call for more information.
HOW EXPENSIVE IS MCBC, AND DO YOU OFFER FINANCIAL AID?
Our programs for each level are very affordable. Each degree program is offered as a package. Total package prices depend on the level and any past college and ministry experience you have that may be applicable to your degree. We do not at this time offer financial aid.
However, special Scholarships and other Discounts are available for active Ministers, current Military or Military Veterans, active or retired Social Services personnel (such as Police, Fire, EMS, Chaplains, Sociologists, MCBC professors, School Teachers & Counselors), and seniors on fixed income (based on age 60 years & older). Call @ 559.740.7741.
CAN I GET A JOB WITH A BIBLE COLLEGE EDUCATION?
Although Bible colleges, of course, have always been about training men and women
for careers in ministry, articles are available that demonstrate that businesses in general need the soft skills that a Bible college offers. Soft skills are people skills, character, the ability to communicate, critical thinking,
problem solving, and time management. These are transferable to any job! For many service industry occupations and management positions, for
example, people skills and work ethic are more important. (See article.) However, if you are interested in using your Biblical education within the ministry, check out some job areas (see website).
DO YOU ACCEPT MY SECULAR CREDENTIALS?
MCBC accepts credentials from other colleges, institutions, and organizations. They are accepted on a case by case basis depending on the credentials and its applicability to the program the student is applying for. Call us @ 559.740.7741.
MCBC was established in 2019 as a program of Mamre Christian Center, which is an IRS 501c3 non-profit religious organization. It is authorized to issue degrees in Theology. MCBC operates its home office in the State of California. California’s stance on religious colleges is that there is ‘a separation of church and state’. California neither approves or disapproves MCBC's status. This is actually a benefit because MCBC is able to offer a Christ-based focus within our programs without hindrance from the state or high tuition fees!
